COVID-19

Throughout the pandemic, VAC (as part of the VSI Alliance) worked with Calderdale Council, Public Health, Calderdale CCG and others to make sure that our sector was receiving the most up-to-date information on how to stay safe, protecting others and supporting each other.

A big part of this was listening to people’s experiences of COVID-19, and what they said was important to them. Our Engagement Champions were key in helping us to hear from all our different communities in Calderdale, and to understand what people’s view on COVID-19 vaccination were. This insight was collated in a fortnightly report and shaped the vaccination programme every step of the way. You can read all the insight reports here: Understanding the views and experiences of people living in Calderdale of the COVID Vaccine - NHS Calderdale Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) (calderdaleccg.nhs.uk)

Calderdale CCG put together an overview of what people told us, and how we listened: Understanding the views and experiences of people living in Calderdale of the COVID Vaccine - NHS Calderdale Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) (calderdaleccg.nhs.uk)

The overall report of all our findings from engagement around COVID-19 and vaccination is here: XXX

Other COVID -19 work

  • Young people from Calderdale Young Commissioners, Tough Times Reference Group and SEND Reference Group have helped to create COVID vaccination ‘worry cards’. This resource has been produced to help decrease stress levels and any worries or questions that young people told us they have. COVID Vaccination Worry Cards.

  • When the pandemic hit in 2020, it soon became clear that our Black, Asian and ethnic minority communities were harder hit by the virus than others. Our VCSE organisations were key in helping Calderdale to reduce the impact of COVID-19 on these communities. You can find out more here: https://youtu.be/cTGm9_5Gqlo

  • Previous VAC CEO, Dipika Kausal, helped to answer people’s questions about protecting themselves, others, and bringing the infection rate down in Calderdale. You can watch the recording from the Facebook Live here: Facebook Live | Facebook
