More Details About This Role

Childcare roles are based within one of our seven Day Cares. The aim of each Children’s Centre is to provide a happy and safe environment for children to develop to their full potential.
You will gain experience in a variety of duties including:
• Interacting with children through play & supporting their learning. Follow the planning for the children. Providing high quality integrated care and education for young children.
• Gaining a clear understanding of safeguarding policies and procedures.
• Working in partnership with parents and carers in the care of their children and to encourage participation in Centre activities.
• Keeping up to date with activities being delivered by Sure Start Children's Centres and any other age appropriate activities in the community and signposting service users to these activities.

Reception roles are based within all of our 9 Children’s Centres, providing the first point of contact for Service Users. You will gain experience in a variety of duties including:
• Welcoming children, families, professionals and all other visitors to Centres and deal with them in a sensitive, respectful and appropriate manner.
• Acting as a reception point for telephone and personal callers, taking messages and dealing efficiently and courteously with enquiries.
• Ensuring the upkeep of the Centre’s information noticeboards and replenishing information leaflets.
• Managing the room booking diary to ensure the smooth running of services. Room preparation such as room layout and providing refreshments.
• Ensure relevant information is being displayed including the quarterly messages (safety and health). Removal of out of date posters, leaflets and general information.

Supporting Parent and Child groups
This involves supporting various activities and groups across all of our 9 Children’s Centres.
You will gain experience in a variety of duties including:
• Assist the Lead in delivering the session. Being pro active with this as this could include singing, playing, acting and having fun to encourage parents and children engage in the session.
• Meeting and greeting families and maintaining a friendly, polite, professional and approachable attitude to make families feel welcomed, safe and confident to approach you with any issues.
• Knowledge of food preparation routines, serving of meals for a group setting, hand washing, use of utensils, health and safety routines.
• An awareness of Policies and Procedures, Confidentiality, Safeguarding and any other relevant Policies and Procedures.

Here are the training dates for 2024:
Wednesday 21st and Wednesday 28th February 2024 11am – 1pm at Kevin Pearce Children’s Centre, Ovenden, HX3 5RQ.

Tuesday 18th and Tuesday 25th June 2024 10am – 12pm at Elland Churches Centre, HX5 0BB

Monday 7th and Monday 14th October 2024 11am – 1pm at Creations Children’s Centre, HX2 0QD

Requirements and Benefits

• We ask for a commitment of at least four to six months.
• To attend 2 short courses
• A completed application form must be completed, 2 satisfactory references and an enhanced DBS certificate.
