Happydays UK was founded in 2014 to provide temporary safe and secure accommodation for homeless men or men at risk of homelessness. The purpose of the Charity is to support individuals to live independent purposeful lives The Charity has grown from providing 5 safe spaces to 104 safe spaces for Adults at Risk. Happydays UK merged with Second Halifax Housing in 2020 and has plans for significant growth in the next 3 years with ultimate vision to end homelessness in the UK.
ROLE DESCRIPTION AND DUTIES

The role of the Happy Days Chaplain is to participate in providing pastoral, spiritual and religious care to residents, staff and volunteers including the board of Trustees.
Happy Days Charity was built upon a strong Christian values and the vision for helping people out of homelessness and living independent and healthy lives in safe and thriving communities.
The Happy Days chaplain is expected to provide, ongoing pastoral and spiritual care, by permission, to those of faith or no faith, for the holistic well-being of all involved in the community of Happy Days.
The role of a chaplain is to be servant-hearted, striving to be pastorally proactive and spiritually reactive. Serving all our people in the charity irrespective of position, beliefs, or lifestyle.
The role is about being there and being a difference to our community of people (residents, staff and volunteers including our board of trustees), especially in in a time of need. It’s about building compassionate relationships based on trust and respect.

Volunteer Commitment: Long term (Commitment of at least 6 months expected), Part time (18 hours per week)
What Could Someone Gain From This Role?: The role of the chaplain will vary greatly depending on the needs of the charity and will be very much a permission led activity. We expect the chaplain will create regular visits to the charity, our residential communities, meetings, and events, as a way of developing relationships - endeavouring to act with discernment and sensitivity, along with a commitment to ongoing development of the role within the charity.
