More Details About This Role

We like to give volunteers an opportunity to try a range of areas before they find something that suits them. You might become a Shop Volunteer, Bookshop Volunteer or Music Shop Volunteer. Or, you might find yourself in a more specialist role such as a Social Media Volunteer, Online Shop Volunteer, Admin/Finance Support Volunteer, or even a Lead Volunteer.

Requirements and Benefits

Volunteers will need to complete an application form and provide one referee. Oxfam will reimburse all Volunteer expenses incurred in line with Oxfam’s Volunteer Expenses Policy: travel expenses, & lunch (full day).

Age / Gender Restrictions

Volunteers under the age of 18 must provide their parent/guardian consent. The form is attached to the application from.

We can accept volunteers from the age of 14, but only volunteers aged 16 and over may work on the till.



Both our Halifax and Hebden Bridge shops have their facilities upstairs and neither shop has an accessibility lift, which may make it impractical for some people to volunteer. However, our online shop in Hebden Bridge (based in Salem Mill Community Centre) has a functioning stair lift – however, the nearest disabled toilet would be at The Old Gate Bar & Restaurant.
